Sofyan Amrabat completes part of medical in Italy ahead of Man Utd transfer

Sofyan Amrabat has completed part of his Manchester United medical in Italy ahead of travelling to Carrington to finalise his move, 90min understands.

After months of rumours and negotiations, Man Utd finally agreed terms with Fiorentina on a loan with an option to buy in the summer of 2024, to secure the services of Morocco international Amrabat.

90min understands that the Red Devils are set to pay a loan fee of around £8.5m, and have the option to sign the player outright for an additional £17.1m upon the expiration of his loan. Man Utd would also commit to paying £4.3m in performance based add-ons if they choose to take up their option to sign the player permanently next June.

A loan with an option to buy prove to be necessary in order to get the deal over the line due to Manchester United's FFP concerns.

Amrabat had been pushing to make the move to Old Trafford all summer, with 90min reporting in mid-August that the midfielder had agreed personal terms with the Red Devils.

Now, with a deal finally struck, sources have confirmed that Amrabat has completed a part of his Man Utd medical in Italy before travelling to Carrington to finalise the move.

When confirmed, Amrabat will become Erik ten Hag and Man Utd's fourth signing on deadline day alone. Earlier on September 1, the club confirmed the signings of Sergio Reguilon on loan from Tottenham Hotspur, goalkeeper Altay Bayindir from Fenerbahce, and they also gave veteran defender Jonny Evans a one-year deal at Old Trafford.
