Boko Haram Ambush Soldiers In Borno, Scores Feared Dead

The members of the deadly Boko Haram sect have killed a Lieutenant-Colonel, other officers during a battle with the Nigerian army.

Daily Post reports that the militant group had attacked the convoy at a town along Bama/Konduga axis.

A source said that the soldiers were traveling in a convoy of 3 Hilux cars when the insurgents appeared and opened fire.

While some Boko Haram fighters were killed, a number of the troops received serious wounds as the militants were believed to have outnumbered them.

The dead Lt. Col., who was one of those with serious wounds, gave up the ghost after battling for his life.

The others soldiers are currently receiving medical treatment.

There are reports of total liberation of some towns in the state by the military and subsequent return of people to those town that include Bama & Konduga.

However, the army stated today that its troops killed four supposed suicide bombers near a checkpoint on the outskirt of Maiduguri, the capital of Borno state.

President Muhammadu Buhari, who took office in May, has sought international support to crush the insurgency.
