AFCON: Nigeria’s Bright Osayi-Samuel pinpoints two things that impressed him about South Africa

Nigeria defender, Bright Osayi-Samuel has pinpointed two things that impressed him about South Africa after the Super Eagles’ 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, semi-final victory on Wednesday night.

Osayi-Samuel admitted that the Bafana Bafana ‘have got so much chemistry and really played well’ against the Super Eagles despite their loss to Jose Peseiro’s men in the semi-final encounter.

Recall that Super Eagles sealed their spot in the AFCON final after a dramatic clash that saw them win on penalties, thanks to Kelechi Iheanacho’s decisive kick and Stanley Nwabali’s saves.

Speaking to reporters in the mixed zone after the game, the Fenerbahce star said: “South Africa is a very good team, they play a lot.

“I think nine of their players are playing together in the same club so they have got so much chemistry and today they really played well.

“I think we were so resilient, from the goalkeeper to Osimhen, everyone defended well.”

He added, “We worked very hard as a team and when we had to counterattack we did that too, that was our game plan and we executed it very well.”
