Age & Career Of Kevin Peter Pietersen

Kevin Peter Pietersen MBE is an English cricket commentator, conservationist, and former England international captain.

Known for his amazing batting skills, Pietersen played in all three formats for England between 2005 and 2014.

He won the Player of the Series award in the 2010 ICC World Twenty20 and played a crucial role in helping the England Cricket Team win their first ICC trophy.

Early Life & Education

Kevin Peter Pietersen, currently 43, was born on June 27, 1980, in Pietermaritzburg, Natal Province, South Africa.

His parents are Jannie Pietersen and Penny Pietersen. He grew up in a strict, disciplined household with his three brothers, Tony, Greg, and Bryan.

Pietersen attended Maritzburg College in Pietermaritzburg, where he first showcased his cricketing talent.

He made his first-class debut for Natal’s B team in 1997, displaying his skills as an off-spin bowler and a hard-hitting lower-order batsman.

Personal Life

Kevin Pietersen is married to former Liberty X singer Jessica Taylor. The couple tied the knot on December 29, 2007, at St Andrew’s Church in Castle Combe, Wiltshire.

They have two children, Dylan, born in 2010, and Rosie, in 2015.

Career

Pietersen’s cricketing journey took a significant turn when he joined Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club in 2000 after being recommended by Nasser Hussain.

He made an immediate impact, scoring a century on his debut and impressing with his batting skills. Pietersen’s success continued, and he earned praise for his performances, including an unbeaten double-century and four consecutive centuries in a week.

Pietersen’s domestic career further progressed when he moved to Hampshire in 2005. However, his increasing responsibilities in the England team limited his appearances for Hampshire.

In 2010, he expressed his desire to leave Hampshire and joined Surrey on loan, eventually signing a permanent contract in 2011.

Pietersen had the honor of captaining the England Test and ODI teams from August 4, 2008, to January 7, 2009.

However, his tenure was short-lived due to a dispute with the then-England coach Peter Moores, resulting in his resignation.

Pietersen’s relationship with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) deteriorated, leading to his retirement from international limited-overs cricket in 2012.

Net Worth

Kevin Pietersen has accumulated a net worth of $7.5 million through his successful cricket career and subsequent ventures in commentary and conservation.
