EPL: They’re not challengers – Hamann names team to win title, clubs to finish top four

Former Bayern Munich star, Didi Hamann has opined that Liverpool won’t be challenging for the Premier League title this season.

He named Manchester City as the possible title winners, while Chelsea, Arsenal and Newcastle would fill up the top four.

Hannan, a former Liverpool midfielder, believes the club has not done enough in the ongoing summer transfer window to challenge for the title.

The German lamented that his old club has only been able to bring in two players so far, adding that they should be able to sign more players or finish worse than they did last season.

Liverpool managed to finish sixth in the Premier League table last season but have allowed the likes of Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, Firmino, Naby Keita, James Milner and several others leave Anfield this summer.

They managed to bring in just two midfielders in the shapes of Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister.

“I think they [Liverpool ]are as far away as they were last season, if not further,” he told talkSPORT.

“If they don’t sign any more players, I think top four will be a big success.

“I can’t see them challenging for the title, I watched Newcastle, Arsenal were a bit underwhelming, I think City will be there again and Chelsea won’t be far away as well.

“You’ve got to beat one or two of these teams to finish in the top four, I think that will be hard enough.”
