Lisandro Martinez returns to Carrington to step up injury recovery
Manchester United have welcomed centre-back Lisandro Martinez back to Carrington for the final stages of his recovery from a foot injury.
The Argentine broke a bone in his foot during April's Europa League quarter-final clash with Sevilla and missed the rest of the season as a result.
After undergoing surgery to repair the injury, the plan was for Martinez to make a recovery in time for pre-season and all appears to be going well with the 25-year-old, who confirmed on Twitter that he is back at Carrington.
"So happy to be here!" Martinez wrote.
Pre-season for United is scheduled to begin on July 10, nine days before a meeting with Lyon in Edinburgh, but Erik ten Hag will take a limited squad over to Norway for a game against Leeds United on July 12.
After those warm-up fixtures, United will jet off to the United States for the bulk of their pre-season campaign.
Arsenal, Wrexham, Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund are all on the agenda for United, who will bring the summer to a close in Dublin, Ireland, on August 5 against Athletic Club.
United will then have nine days to finalise their preparations for the season before their Premier League campaign begins at home to Wolves on August 14.
