2023 Guber: Labour Party’s Otti tasks Abia citizens on full participation, carpets Ikpeazu for Abia’s rising debt

Dr Alex Chioma Otti, the Abia State gubernatorial candidate of the Labour Party for the 2023 general elections has tasked the people of the state to participate fully in the democratic governance of their state and the country.

Recalls that Alex Otti had withdrawn from the APC gubernatorial primaries which took place on May 26, 2022.

Otti who hailed from Arochukwu Local Government Area in Abia North Senatorial District of Abia State had subsequently dumped the APC for the Labour Party (LP) and clinched the party’s governorship seat ticket for the 2023 elections.

While tasking the electorates on participation in governance during a church programme in Aba, the LP candidate stressed that the citizenry must get fully involved in the process of governance for genuine economic and infrastructural development to be engendered in Abia, and also to ensure those entrusted with the people’s mandate are put on their toes to discharge their constitutional responsibilities.

“In view of the devastating condition of affairs in Abia state, and coupled with other fundamental and structural challenges bedevilling the progress, growth and development of the state and the country at large, it is now time for all patriotic and well-meaning Abians to get involved in the process of governance,” he stated.

He also reminded the electorates of the need to exercise their franchise and fulfil their civic duty by electing those with the requisite capacity to rewrite the narratives of governance in the state.

Dr Otti further criticised the Peoples Democratic Party-led government of the state on the frightening and speedily rising debt profile of Abia state without tangible infrastructural projects on ground to justify the indebtedness.

The Labour Party gubernatorial candidate described the development as sad and something that should worry every patriotic and well-meaning indigene of Abia State.

In his words, the Okezie Ikpeazu-led administration, in less than 8 years, has been catastrophic and a colossal failure.
