The spokesman of the Delta state police command, DSP Bright Edafe, could not confirm the incident as of the time of filing the report.

He declared: “No confirmation for now.” Nigerian Tribune had earlier reported that 10 cultists and armed robbery suspects were, in the last five days, arrested in the Warri and Sapele axis of Delta state.

The suspects were said to have been apprehended between Wednesday, May 19, and Thursday, May 20 while carrying out their nefarious acts.

Recall that gunmen killed three policemen during an attack on Nsukwa police divisional headquarters in Aniocha South local government area of Delta state on Sunday, May 16 which led to the collapse of parts of the roof of the police station.

It was learnt that the unknown gunmen, who arrived on foot, launched the attack from a thick forest behind the station causing panic and chaos in the area.

Meanwhile, Delta state governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, has said that Nigeria is in troubled times with a dwindling economy occasioned by various factors, including worsening insecurity across the nation.

The governor stated this on Friday, April 23 at a funeral service in Agbor, even as he urged Nigerians to pray that God should change the situation.

On his part, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor, has said that the proliferation of illegal arms in the country was a threat to Nigeria’s corporate existence.

Irabor disclosed this on Thursday, April 15 while addressing journalists after a courtesy visit to Governor Okowa at Government House, Asaba.

He said the presidential directive to shoot-at-sight anyone with an AK-47 rifle was very clear and must be enforced, adding that Nigeria as a country forbade illegal bearing of arms.
