FIFA Ranking: Why Nigerian players may miss out on Premier League moves

Nigeria players could be barred from securing a work permit to play in England, if the Super Eagles fall out of the top 70 teams in the FIFA rankings.
The July edition of the FIFA ratings, saw the Eagles drop nine places to 70th in the world.

One of the rules of issuing work permits, is that only non-European players whose countries are within the top 70, will be considered.

“If they (Nigeria) slip one more place, its players can’t play in England,” African football expert, Tunde Adelakun, said.

“Work permit laws for non-European players say the player’s country has to be in top 70 in the world.”
