Super Eagles rise 10 places in latest FIFA rankings

Nigeria have climbed 10 places to 50th in the latest FIFA World Ranking, which will be officially published on November 24.

The Super Eagles have become a different force under new Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr, with the former African champions unbeaten since he took over.

Just last weekend, they defeated Algeria 3-1 in a 2018 World Cup qualifying match, which kept them top of Group B with six points and in pole position to clinch the sole ticket.

Senegal are now the highest-ranked African country, despite dropping to 33rd position. Ivory Coast and Tunisia are just behind in joint 34th, dropping three and climbing four respectively.

Nigeria are level with Burkina Faso in 50th, after shooting up 17 places following their 2-0 win over Cape Verde in a 2018 World Cup qualifier.

Egypt are also up 10, into 36th, but Ghana’s poor World Cup qualifying campaign is reflected in their fall of seven places to 52nd.

Argentina will remain top of the FIFA World Ranking, while the top five will be completed by Brazil, Germany, Belgium and Chile
