Super Eagles Beat Sudan To Revive AFCON Hope

Ahmed Musa scored twice to ensure Nigeria’s hope of qualifying for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations is revived as the African champions beat Sudan 3-1 in Abuja on Wednesday.
It was a pulsating first half as the super-eagles, in front of a handful home fans, were contained by a resilient Sudanese side.

Nigeria’s best chance came in the 44th minute when Aaron Samuel missed a good chance provided by Musa. And just before the break, Sudan came very close but Abdulkadri wasted a good opportunity to end the first half at goalless.
On resumption from the break, Nigeria looks more purposeful, and it was John Obi Mikel who set up Musa to finish up nicely in the 48th minute.

Seven minutes later, Sudan levelled the score, thanks to Ibrahim Salah’s beautiful effort.
Nigeria was left to fight with their blood and pile pressure on Sudan, and just after Sone Aluko came in for Raheem Lawal, debutant Aaron Samuel forced his foot to the ball to earn the super-eagles a second goal in the 66th minute.

With one minute remaining to play, Musa’s solo effort sealed victory for Nigeria when he dribbled Sudan’s defender to beat the goalkeeper.

Wednesday’ victory now put Nigeria in the third position of Group A with four points, while Sudan now rock the bottom on three points.
