Scores dead, injured as Shia Islamic sect group clash with military officials in Katsina [PHOTOS]

There was panic in the Funtua Local Government Area, LGA, of Katsina state on Wednesday as military officials and members of the Shia Islamic sect group reportedly clashed.

The incident reportedly occurred during the Ashuraa Procession of the group in the wee hours of today.

While many lives were lost, scores sustained high degrees of injuries.

Although the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, in the state, Salisu Agaisa, was not available for comments as at press time, DAILY POST gathered that members of Nigerian Red Cross Society were deployed to rescue the wounded.
