Rivers Assembly Screens, Confirms 20 Commissioner-Nominees For Wike

The Rivers State House of Assembly has screened twenty commissioner-nominees.

The nominees were also confirmed by the Assembly after the lawmakers deliberated on their qualification to be part of the State Executive Council.


Speaker of the House, Ikunyi Igbani said the screening and confirmation of the commissioner-designates was in line with Section 195 of the 1999 Constitution.

The Commissioner-designates are: Professor Keniye Ebeku, Mrs Tonye Oniyide, Dr John Bazia, the Secretary of the PDP in Rivers state, Walter Ibibia, Hon Isaac Kamalu and Hon Chinyere Igwe.

Others include, Mrs Ukiel Oyagiri, Prof Roseline Konya, Engr Kelvin Wachukwu, Ephriam Nwuzi, Bright Jacob, Hon Alberth Miller.

Also part of the list are a one time Commissioner under former Governor Odili, Boma Iyaye, Bar Monday Onyezonwu, Shedrack Chukwu, Prince Ugbogbula, Mike Anwuri, Rodaford Long-John,
Akie Fubara and finally Emeka Onowu who will be representing the non-indigenes in Governor Wike’s cabinet.

Some of the confirmed commissioner nominees, who spoke with our correspondent said they were willing and ready to help fufil the election promises of Governor Nyesom Wike.
