Pipeline vandalism: IG deploys riot policemen, helicopter in Ogun

The acting Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has deployed a Tactical Operation Unit, comprising the Police Mobile Force, the Counter-Terrorism Unit with the back-up of an Air Surveillance Team to flush out vandals and other criminal elements operating in Arepo and Ibafo areas of Ogun State.

Idris said the Thursday deployment of the unit in Arepo/Ibafo was to ensure that normalcy returned to the areas in record time.

This was contained in a statement on Friday in Abuja by the Force Public Relations Officer, Don Awunah.

It quoted the IG as saying that the Nigeria Police Force will not watch any criminal group or groups take the law into their hands, adding that he authorised the team to deal decisively with anyone who constituted himself an enemy of the state.

He also advised law-abiding citizens of the area to return home and go about their normal businesses.
