It is safe to say that YouTube is the most popular video sharing site in the world. This project has started in 2005 and it quickly became trendy. In one year time YouTube was bought by Google which made it even more popular. Nearly everyone is using this website and celebrities post their latest videos and updates on a regular basis which brings them more fans, more money and followers. Yet there are many regular YouTube users that benefit from this service and if not for YouTube they would have completely stayed in the dark without becoming famous.

Nowadays YouTube became an amazing platform for people to forge their media career. They share their talents and build their own audience. Technically speaking nearly everyone can start making money on YouTube, but maintaining this career is another story. With a big variety of linking advertisements and endorsements to videos this indeed can become a profitable business. Some famous YouTube users receive millions of views and have undoubtedly reached celebrity status due to their fascinating videos. They have gone as far as to starring in Hollywood movies and releasing their own books and albums. You have probably heard about Justin Bieber’s success which was discovered by record executives through his homemade music videos. Anyway I don’t want to bore you with Justin Bieber here for too long, instead go ahead and check a list of 10 ridiculously wealthy YouTube users out. Let’s start from the richest ones.

1. Pewdiepie – $21 million (3 billion + views)

Many know him by the name Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg. He is a Swedish comedian and YouTube vlogger which specialises in video games. It’s funny how one could get so famous having played through comments on a range of video games in the horror and action genres. For instance only in December 2013 he already had 17 million subscribers.

Right now he has got one of the most subscribed channels on YouTube. Literally making tons of money by publishing videos of himself playing video games and screaming a lot. His kind of occupation is not for everyone and not everybody actually gets what on earth it is so appealing in his videos, but the appeal is definitely there.

2. Smosh – $19.6 million (2.8 billion views)

This comedy duo was established in the autumn of 2005 with Ian Hecox and Anthony Padilla. The whole franchise began in 2002 when Anthony created a website called smoosh.com. They started doing lip-synching to numerous popular songs and show themes. They first became famous when their video of the Pokemen theme song reached more than 27 million views which made it the most popular YouTube video of the time. YouTube community absolutely loved that thing.

However not everybody was a fan, for instance The Pokemon Company didn’t appreciate that and they took the video down due to copyright issues. Yet the guys were able to make a few changes here and there and they resurrected the song in 2010. Ever since these guys began appearing on YouTube they made a big variety of comedy skits which get updated continuously. Now there are 10 Smosh-related channels.

3. RayWilliamJohnson – $18.2 million (2.6 billion views)

Johnson became popular after releasing his series called ‘Equals Three’ where he added commentary to his viral videos. His stuff was so entertaining that he became a big success in no time and in 2011 he had six of the top twenty most-watched videos of the month. That is quite impressive for a vlogger from Oklahoma City. Wouldn’t you say?

The guy is a bit of an entertainer indeed his hilarious commentary brings him lots of fans and cash. He never stops to maintain large viewership which continues to grow day by day. Last but not least Johnson is a great writer of lyrics in many music genres, he uses his own music in his videos too.

4. BlueXephos – $16.1 million (2.3 billion views)

Needless to say YouTube is extremely popular among gamers. BlueXephos happened to be the main YouTube channel for gaming friends of the Yogscast group. BlueXephos kicked off in 2008 by Lewis Brindley and Simon Lane which were original members. The channel gets plenty video uploads on a regular basis of these two folks and their game friends playing through different levels of video games with witty commentary and ridiculous scenarios. That’s not the worst time to earn some cash eh?\

5. RealAnnoyingOrange – $13.3 million (1.9 billion views)

It’s nearly impossible to take this stuff out of your mind once you have seen it. That AnnoyingOrange obsession began in 2009 by Dane Boedigheimer. The anthropomorphic orange has got teeth and is trying to annoy all of the fruits and vegetables. Boedigheimer experimented with talking food things before, he did JibJab with slightly different plot though. At first he wanted to create a talking apple, but he found it difficult to actually make a face on it.

Boedigheimer didn’t foresee his success, he only intended to upload a single video on YouTube. However after the video was uploaded in 2010, fans were hungry for more, so in order to please them, he made more series and dedicated a new channel to it called RealAnnoyingOrange which gets updates with new episodes. Moreover there is even a game based on The Annoying Orange called, “Kitchen Carnage.”

6. TobyGames – $10.5 million (1.5 billion channel views)

This American fella appeared on YouTube in 2006 doing a comedy sketch based on the movie ‘Click’. Just like the rest of self-made millionaires on YouTube he was doing several gaming commentaries and composing hilarious remix videos that became insanely popular.

Right now Toby lives in L.A counting his hard earned cash, well not exactly hard earned, but you do what you do best, right? He is a great entertainer and he pleases the audience by making cameo appearance in the videos of other popular YouTubers. That’s not a bad life to live.

He continues giving tips and tricks on video games and he has got a series called “Chronicles of Nova” which some might find a bit inappropriate because the guy simply speaks his mind freely

Anyhow he likes to work with other famous and popular gamers from YouTube on multi-playing walkthroughs and it seems like the guy is going to keep it that way.

10. Epic Rap Battles – $5.7 million (818 million views)

A budget of roughly $50 per episode brought an enormous success for Peter “Nice Peter” Shukoff and Lloyd “EpicLLOYD” Ahlquist. The guys began their project in September 2010 with the idea of historical figures rapping against each other.
