Do All Within Your Power To Rescue Chibok Girls - Traditional Rulers To Buhari

As Nigerians celebrate the inauguration of a new government under the leadership of President Mohammedu Buhari, the Association of ?Royal Traditional Rulers of Nigeria, has expressed hope that the new regime will do all it can to rescue the 219 remaining Chibok school girls abducted on April 14, 2014.

Speaking at a special prayer session held for the previous regime and the newly inaugurated regime of President Buhari, the national president of the association, His Royal Majesty, ?Eze Thomas Agu Obiuluru Obiefule, said the outstanding performances of Buhari in other national assignments and as one time head of state, predicated the trust the traditional rulers bestow on him.

“As a military governor, pioneer chairman of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and later, the military head of state, Buhari’s antecedents can speak for themselves, which is why the royal traditional rulers are praying for him to succeed.

“Nigerians expect improvement and security of lives and properties, and this is why President Buhari should do all within his power to rescue the Chibok girls and guarantee peace in the northeast region and Nigeria in general,” his majesty stated.

He further noted that the association believes strongly that the Buhari regime will critically look into the current insecurity issues in Nigeria, assess the Chibok girls’ situation and if possible, rescue them as soon as possible.

Eze Obiefule further called on Nigerians to be patient with the new administration and give Buhari and his team the opportunity to carefully study the Nigerian situation in order to offer the best possible way out, even as he urged Buhari never to take the citizens for granted.

While making a heartfelt plea to Buhari, Eze Obiefule noted that although not everybody voted for him, Buhari should bear in mind that he is now the president of Nigeria, and thus, should ensure that he meets the enormous needs and yearnings of the people.

Meanwhile, in a swift action aimed at tackling the insurgency, President Buhari, in his inaugural speech, ordered the immediate relocation of the Nigerian army to Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, a move he said, would better position them to speedily tackle the insurgency.
