Charly Boy Faces Backlash After Mistaking Bayelsa Monarch For Asari Dokubo In Viral Video

Nigerian entertainer Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy or Area Father, has sparked reactions after sharing a viral video that he mistakenly identified as showing former Niger Delta militant leader Asari Dokubo criticising President Bola Tinubu.

In the clip, the man is seen brandishing a sword while complaining about the rising cost of living, fuel prices and the state of the country’s refineries. He also calls on Tinubu to surrender, insisting that Nigerians are suffering.

Reacting to the video, Charly Boy suggested that Dokubo’s criticism was connected to the alleged failure of the presidency to renew his benefits or patronage.

“Asari say make Tinubu surrender. Say country too hard. Bulaba never renew him subscription,” he wrote on X.

However, several users quickly corrected him, explaining that the man in the video was Moses Theophilus Kenibara VII, the late Amadabo of Moko-Ama in Bayelsa State’s Akassa Kingdom, rather than Dokubo.

The 64-year-old monarch reportedly died following complications linked to a liposuction procedure, although the reported cause of death has not been independently confirmed.

The mistake prompted mixed reactions, with some users making jokes about the video while others criticised Charly Boy for sharing it without confirming the man’s identity.
