Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic reaffirms ban on graduating students’ sign-out fanfare

The Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua, Ikot Ekpene, has reaffirmed its ban on sign-out fanfare by graduating students, warning that violators will face severe disciplinary action.

In a circular dated October 5, 2026, and signed by the Acting Registrar, Godswill E. Udofah, MNIM, the institution reminded all students that the ban on graduating students’ sign-out fanfare remains in force.

According to the Polytechnic, Management initially imposed the ban in a circular dated September 15, 2025, following disruptions of peace on campus and complaints from various organisations over the abuse of their professional outfits during such activities.

Management expressed concern that the unacceptable activities have continued recently despite the existing ban.

The Polytechnic therefore directed all graduating students to strictly comply with the directive, stressing that sign-out fanfare violates the institution’s rules and regulations.

Penalties for Violators

Management warned that any student found contravening the directive will:

• Be handed over to the relevant security agency for prosecution.

• Have his or her studentship withdrawn.

The institution described the circular as a final warning and urged all students to take note and comply strictly with the directive.

Management also requested that the circular be given the widest publicity among students.
