“You Cannot Pin Anything On Him”- Lawrence Oyor Reacts To Peter Obi’s Political Journey

Nigerian gospel minister Lawrence Oyor has shared his thoughts on the political journey of former Anambra State governor Peter Obi, highlighting what he considers an unusual aspect of the politician’s rise in Nigeria’s political space.

Oyor made the observation while speaking at a recent church programme, where he reflected on Obi’s political career and the growing conversations surrounding the 2027 general elections.

The gospel minister stressed that his comments were not necessarily an endorsement of Obi, noting that Nigerians could decide for themselves whether or not to support the politician at the polls.

However, he urged Nigerians to pay attention to how Obi has built his political profile and attained considerable influence over the years.

According to Oyor, Obi’s rise is particularly striking because, in his view, no major controversy has been successfully established against him despite the level of political influence and prominence he has attained.

He said:

“Whether you want to vote for Peter Obi for president or not, it should baffle you that a man has made it to that level of prosperity and capacity, as far as politics, power and influence are concerned, and yet you cannot pin anything on him.”

Oyor described the situation as unusual in Nigeria, given the intense scrutiny that often surrounds prominent political figures.

“Do you know how strange that is in this country?” he asked.

The minister further suggested that any serious wrongdoing that could have been uncovered about Obi would likely have surfaced by now.

“If there’s anything they could have found, they would have found it by now,” he added.

His comments are expected to generate further discussion among Nigerians, particularly as political activities and conversations ahead of the 2027 presidential election continue to intensify.

Peter Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, became one of Nigeria’s most prominent political figures following his participation in the 2023 presidential election.
