Social media activist VeryDarkMan has claimed that cattle are being used as a means of laundering government funds in Nigeria, alleging that some individuals who stole public money invested it in the cattle business.

Speaking at the Nigerian Bar Association’s 2026 Annual General Conference in Rivers State, VeryDarkMan said the large number of cows seen moving around Nigerian roads should raise questions about the business behind them.

He said: “If you notice, you go around Nigeria, you see cows passing on our roads, you be wondering why so much cows. You know why? It is money laundering, it is the Government.”

He further claimed that a single fat cow could be worth as much as ₦2 million, arguing that 500 cows could therefore represent an investment of about ₦1 billion.

According to him, “Many people who stole government money invested it in the cattle business. That is even more reason why they don’t want ranching.”

VeryDarkMan did not provide evidence to substantiate the allegations during the remarks.

His comments have since triggered mixed reactions online, with several social media users questioning why he was invited to speak at a gathering of legal professionals.
