A Nigerian man has called on Nigerians to boycott South African singer Tyla’s proposed concert in Nigeria, citing the recent wave of xenophobic attacks against Nigerians living in South Africa.

Speaking in a video circulating online, he argued that attending the show would send the wrong message at a time when many Nigerians in South Africa continue to face hostility. He also claimed that the attitude of some South African entertainers and the country’s government suggests support for the ongoing attacks.

According to him, Nigerians should take a stand if the government fails to adequately protect the country’s interests.

“No right-thinking Nigerian should buy a ticket for Tyla’s show if she eventually decides to go ahead with it. Even the body language of these South African artists and their government suggests they support what’s happening. If our government won’t fight for us, then we Nigerians must start standing up for ourselves.”
