FUNAAB appoints Prof. Michael Takeet as Dean of College of Veterinary Medicine

The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has announced the appointment of Professor Michael Takeet as the new Dean of its College of Veterinary Medicine (COLVET), marking another significant step in the University's commitment to academic excellence, research leadership, and institutional development.

The appointment was approved by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Babatunde Kehinde, following the recommendation of the College Board of the College of Veterinary Medicine.

According to a statement issued by the Ag. Head, Directorate of Public Relations, Mr. Olasunkanmi Olajide, the Appointment Letter, signed by the Registrar, Dr. Titus Adeniyi, takes effect from August 1, 2026, for a three-year tenure ending on July 31, 2029.

Professor Takeet, a distinguished scholar from the Department of Veterinary Parasitology and Entomology, was appointed in recognition of his exceptional academic credentials, demonstrated leadership abilities, and unwavering commitment to advancing veterinary education, research, and the overall growth of the University.

The University expressed confidence in his capacity to provide visionary academic leadership that would further strengthen the College's teaching, research, innovation, and community engagement initiatives.

A respected authority in Veterinary Parasitology, Professor Takeet is an active member of several renowned professional organisations, including the World Association for the Advancement of Veterinary Parasitology, the American Society of Parasitologists, the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association, and the Parasitology and Public Health Society of Nigeria.

His appointment is expected to further enhance the College's reputation for excellence while advancing FUNAAB's mission of producing globally competitive graduates and impactful research that addresses national and international challenges in animal health, food security, and public health.
