“Choose Your Partner Wisely”- Actress Sarah Martins Advises Women

Nollywood actress Sarah Martins has stirred discussions on social media after narrating an experience she witnessed while leaving her estate amid the ongoing flooding in Lagos.

According to the actress, she noticed a woman struggling through floodwater on foot and assumed she had been left stranded. Out of concern, Martins stopped her car and offered the woman a ride to the nearest junction.

The situation, however, took an unexpected turn shortly after the woman got into the vehicle. Martins said she then noticed the woman’s husband walking behind them, and what followed left her stunned.

Recounting the incident, she wrote:

“As a woman, while looking for a life partner, try not to marry an enemy. This morning, as I was driving out of my estate in Lagos, I saw a woman walking through floodwater alone and decided to give her a lift to the junction. I had no idea her husband was walking some distance behind her. As soon as she entered my car, he shouted at her, repeatedly insulted her, and ordered her to get down.”

The actress said the encounter made a lasting impression on her and reinforced her belief that choosing a kind and supportive spouse is one of the most important decisions anyone can make.

Her post quickly gained traction online, with many social media users sympathising with the woman and condemning the husband’s alleged behaviour. Several commenters echoed Martins’ message about the importance of mutual respect and healthy relationships in marriage.

Others, however, urged caution, arguing that it was difficult to judge the couple’s relationship based on a single incident and that there could be more to the story than what was observed.
