“This Is Wrong”- Mixed Reactions As Peller Addresses Family Ties On Livestream
Nigerian streamer and TikTok personality Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, has stirred online debate after making a controversial remark about his younger paternal half-sister during a recent family visit.
The incident happened during a live stream when Peller traveled to Ikorodu to formally introduce his fiancée, Jarvis, to his father and relatives as part of preparations for their upcoming wedding.
While he was being welcomed by family members, a young girl who is his paternal half-sister approached to greet him. However, Peller’s response shocked viewers as he stated that he does not consider her his sister.
The influencer, who recently got engaged to Jarvis in Ghana, went on to explain that he only recognizes children born to his mother as his true siblings, drawing a clear distinction within his polygamous family background.
Despite his earlier comment, he later acknowledged that the girl is still part of his wider paternal family.
The moment, which played out publicly during the livestream, quickly went viral and has since generated widespread reactions across social media.
While a few fans defended his stance as a way of setting personal boundaries, many others criticized his comments as insensitive, arguing that in Yoruba culture, family ties especially within extended families are traditionally valued regardless of maternal or paternal lines.
