Abia Govt to investigate fire outbreak at Geometric Power

Abia State Government has commiserated with Geometric Power Limited over the fire outbreak that destroyed a temporary building located in the company’s premises, with a promise to find the root cause of the incident.

Abia State Commissioner for Power and Public Utilities, Ikechukwu Monday who said this on Monday after visiting the affected facility, thanked God that no life was lost.

He applauded Geometric Power Emergency Safety Team, Abia State Fire Services and the host communities for stopping the fire from spreading to other buildings.

Conducting the Commissioner round the fire outbreak site which is few meters away from the power plant, the the Managing Director of Aba Power Electric Company, Mr Ugo Opiegbe said the fire which started around 3am on Monday was battled to standstill by 5am through the prompt action of Aba Power Safety Team, the host communities and Abia State Emergency fire services.

He said that the cause of the fire which destroyed the area used for IT Section and Field Engineers was still unknown as investigation was still ongoing.
