118 Imams, Wada Pray For Late Prince Audu At Fidau

No fewer than 118 Imams, led by the Chief Imam of Amkpa Mosque, Alhaji Suleiman Adama, on Wednesday attended the third day fidau for the late former Governor of Kogi State, Prince Abubakar Audu.

Audu, who was the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the November 21 governorship election, died on Sunday shortly after the poll was declared inconclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

A former Deputy President, Alhaji Ibrahim Mantu, was among dignitaries who attended the fidau at the compound of the Orego Attah and paramount ruler of Ogbonicha Kingdom, Ofu Local
Government Area, Kogi State, Alhaji Tijani Audu.

The Kogi State Deputy Governor, Mr. Yomi Awoniyi, who represented the state governor, Capt. Idris Wada (retd.), led other state
government functionaries to the prayer.

Others in the state government’s delegation included the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Olugbemiro Jegede; the Chief of Staff, Mr. Nasiru Yunusa; and the state’s Head of Service, Dr. Moses Atakpa, among others.

Wada said the government and people of the state were yet to come to terms with the fact that the state had lost Audu, a former state governor.

While noting that Audu’s death remained a shock to the government and people of the state, the governor described the ex-governor’s death as an unbelievable story to comprehend.
He stated that the good works of the late Audu as the state governor cuts across all sectors of the state’s economy, adding that the deceased would forever be remembered for his numerous achievements.

Wada said Audu’s death was too sudden, stating that it came at a time his services and wise counsel in moving the state forward were most needed.

The governor commiserated with the family of the former governor, urging them to be consoled by Audu’s legacies of service to the state, his style of politics, and his personality that was respected across the country.

Wada said the state and the people would, each day, immortalise the deceased in their hearts as one who came, saw, and touched lives in many positive ways.

Adama, who led 117 other Imams and Muslim faithful, prayed that God would grant Audu’s soul succour and eternal rest.
