EPL: Dan Ashworth quits as Man Utd’s sporting director after five months

Dan Ashworth has left his role as Manchester United’s Sporting Director.

The Premier League club confirmed his departure on Sunday.

Ashworth leaves after only five months with United.

During that time, the 53-year-old oversaw transfer spending of over £200 million during the summer window.

It included the transfers of Leny Yoro, Manuel Ugarte, Joshua Zirkzee, Matthijs de Light and Noussair Mazraoui.

An official statement read: “Dan Ashworth will be leaving his role as Sporting Director of Manchester United by mutual agreement.

“We would like to thank Dan for his work and support during this transitional period for the club and wish him well for the future.”
