Four killed, over 20 injured in late-night shooting in Birmingham, U.S

A mass shooting in Birmingham’s busy nightlife district late Saturday night has left four people dead and over 20 others injured.

The tragic incident occurred on 20th Street near Magnolia Avenue in the Five Points South area, a popular hub for entertainment in the city.

According to the Birmingham Police Department, officers responded to reports of gunfire just after 11pm.

Officer Truman Fitzgerald confirmed that “dozens of gunshot victims” were found at the scene, with at least four suffering life-threatening injuries.

Three victims—identified as two men and a woman—were declared dead at the scene while a fourth person succumbed to injuries at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital.

Other wounded individuals were transported to hospitals, with some arriving via private vehicles.

“We will do everything we possibly can to make sure we uncover, identify, and hunt down whoever is responsible for preying on our people this morning,” Officer Fitzgerald stated in an official release.

No arrests have been made and authorities are actively investigating the motive behind the shooting
