Champions League: Nigerian striker breaks Mbappe’s record with goal against Barcelona
Nigerian striker, George Ilenikhena, came off the bench to score for AS Monaco in their 2-1 win over Barcelona.
With this feat, Ilenikhena became the youngest player to score in the UEFA Champions League history for the Ligue 1 side, breaking the record held by Kylian Mbappe.
In the 71st minute, the 18-year-old raced clear and finished past Marc-Andre Ter Stegen.
The goal proved to be the winner, after Lamine Yamal cancelled out Maghnes Akilouche’s opener.
Ilenikhena was born in Lagos, Nigeria and moved to France 15 years ago.
He only joined Monaco this summer from Royal Antwerp.
The game against Barcelona was also his debut in the Champions League.
