Super Eagles can’t afford to miss out on 2026 World Cup – Rohr

Former Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr, has said it will be disappointing if the team failed to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The West Africans missed out on a place at the last edition of the mundial hosted by Qatar.

The Super Eagles have endured a poor start to the 2026 qualifiers, recording three draws and one defeat from four matches.

The three-time African champions are second from bottom in Group C.

Rohr, who masterminded Benin Republic’s 2-1 victory over Nigeria said it will be a disaster if the Super Eagles failed to qualify for the global soccer fiesta for the second consecutive time.

“If they miss another one, for such a football country with the best players in Africa, it would be a little bit shameful,” Rohr stated.

“So, I think the players will do everything to go there (World Cup), and also the federation and the staff. But now, of course they must be realistic and say that it’s only three points in four games.”
