‘Hit-and-run’ driver kills woman on Benin Expressway

An unidentified driver has hit and killed a 22-year-old female pedestrian named Elizabeth James along the Sagamu-Benin Expressway.

Our correspondent gathered that the incident occurred at 9:40pm near Dalof Filling Station, Sagamu axis of the expressway.

Police Spokesman, Omolola Odutola confirmed the incident in Abeokuta, saying it occurred on Sunday night.

Odutola said the vehicle from the Ijebu-Ode axis towards the Sagamu interchange hit male and female pedestrians beside the express road.

According to her, the two victims suffered injuries and were taken to Live Well Hospital in Sagamu for treatment.

” Unfortunately, a 22-year-old female pedestrian named Elizabeth James from Sagamu died at the hospital,” she said.

The police publicist added that her body was transferred to Fakoya Mortuary in Sagamu.

“Police visited the accident scene with traffic authorities, collected evidence, and are currently investigating. Further updates will be provided,” Odutola said.
