NSCDC intercepts two trucks of vandalized railway slippers, tracks in Niger

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC, Niger State command, has nabbed two heavy duty trucks containing vandalized railway slippers and tracks worth millions of naira at the Mokwa Local Government Area of the state.

The state commandant, Joachim Okafor, stated this in a statement made available to journalists in Minna.

He explained that one of the vehicles was laden with suspected vandalized railway slippers while the other carried railway tracks both on transit to an unknown location.

“This is the activities of economic saboteurs on Federal Government infrastructural facilities and it is unacceptable.

“When the suspects sighted our men, the drivers took to their heels, abandoning the vehicles,” Okafor disclosed.

He stated that the command is acting on the marching order of the Commandant-General Ahmed Abubakar Audi’s directive that commands should intensify surveillance and security watch all over critical national assets and infrastructure across the country.

He revealed that the case is currently under investigation and if the owners of the two trailers refuse to show up, they will be confiscated in court.

While assuring of synergy with other security agencies in securing the nation, Okafor lamented the lack of operational vehicles in the state and warned those involved in destroying of public facilities and utilities to desist from such act or face the full wrath of the law.
