Superman & Lois Season 4 Sees Return of Reverse-Flash Actor Tom Cavanagh

The CW has major plans for Superman & Lois Season 4 and the series finale. With the exception of David Ramsey’s John Diggle, the series has mostly shied away from bringing other Arrowverse actors into the mix due to a different setting. However, the show’s finale will see the return of Tom Cavanagh.

The Flash’s Tom Cavanagh returns in Superman & Lois Season 4 finale

Cavanagh played Reverse-Flash and several multiversal incarnations of Harrison Wells on The Flash and the actor is confirmed to be back for the series finale of Superman & Lois. He will not be in the director’s chair for the episode as he was in the past for The Flash. Instead, he will return as a guest star.

Cavanagh spoke about his involvement in the finale during a panel at this year’s Fan Expo Philadelphia. He revealed that, as the director for the finale had already been hired, showrunner Todd Helbing asked him to return on screen.

Appearing on stage, Cavanagh said:

“The finale for Superman & Lois was taken up already, and so I said, ‘Well, I’m happy to not do it.’ [Showrunner] Todd [Helbing] was like, ‘Well, would you play a role?’ So that’s coming up for those of you that watch Superman & Lois, something that I’m happy to have done.”

The actor emphasized that he loves to take on season premieres and finales due to their high stakes and fight sequences. With Superman & Lois ending after the fourth season, his guest appearance in the finale could involve a fight sequence between Superman and Reverse-Flash.

However, Cavanagh didn’t reveal anything about his role in the episode. So, whether he plays Harrison Wells or Eobard Thawne remains to be seen.
