Monkey Man Trailer: Dev Patel Leads Action-Packed Revenge Movie

Universal Pictures has shared a brand new Monkey Man trailer for its newest action thriller starring Oscar nominee Dev Patel as a man who’s hellbent on taking revenge against the people responsible for his mother’s death.

This comes after the film had its world premiere earlier this month at the 2024 SXSW Film Festival, where Patel received a standing ovation. Produced by Jordan Peele, the film is scheduled to arrive in theaters on April 5.

What is Monkey Man about?

“Inspired by the legend of Hanuman, an icon embodying strength and courage, Monkey Man follows Kid, an anonymous young man who ekes out a meager living in an underground fight club where, night after night, wearing a gorilla mask, he is beaten bloody by more popular fighters for cash,” reads the official synopsis. “After years of suppressed rage, Kid discovers a way to infiltrate the enclave of the city’s sinister elite. As his childhood trauma boils over, his mysteriously scarred hands unleash an explosive campaign of retribution to settle the score with the men who took everything from him.”

Monkey Man is directed and produced by Dev Patel from a screenplay he co-wrote with Paul Angunawela and John Collee. This marks the feature-length directorial debut of Patel after more than a decade since his breakout performance in 2008’s Slumdog Millionaire. The film also stars Sharlto Copley, Pitobash, Vipin Sharma, Sikandar Kher, Adithi Kalkunte, Sobhita Dhulipala, Ashwini Kalsekar, Makarand Deshpande, Jatin Malik, and Zakir Hussain.
