UCL: Why Atletico Madrid eliminated us – Inter Milan coach, Inzaghi

Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi has suggested that Atletico Madrid eliminated his team from the UEFA Champions League because the Serie A giants made ‘too many mistakes’ during the encounter.

Inter Milan had won 1-0 in the Champions League round of 16 first leg against Diego Simeone’s side in Italy.

However, Inzaghi’s men were defeated 3-2 on penalties in the second leg in Spain on Wednesday night after the match ended 2-2 draw on aggregate.

Speaking after the game, Inzaghi also lamented that Inter should have done better against the host in the second half.

“Obviously, we are disappointed for all the Inter family. We must be proud of what we did in this Champions League,” Inzaghi was quoted by UEFA ‘s official website as saying.

“In the second half, we should have done better. In extra time, we had more energy, but unfortunately we made too many mistakes.”
