EPL: It’ll be hard for Man Utd to qualify for Champions League – Bruno Fernandes

Manchester United captain, Bruno Fernandes, has admitted it will be difficult to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Fernandes stated this after a 3-1 defeat at Manchester City on Sunday.

United got in front through Marcus Rashford’s long range effort, but a Phil Foden double and late Erling Haaland goal secured victory for the hosts.

This means the Red Devils now trail fourth-placed Aston Villa by 11 points and face a serious challenge to secure Champions League football for next season.

Fernandes said: “We’re not hiding from that, we want to be in the Champions League.

“We want to try until the end of the season to get into that fourth place that gives you the possibility to get into the Champions League.

“We know it’s going to be hard but we have to do everything that is in our hands that we can do going into the next game at home.”
