Super Eagles defender William Troost-Ekong will undergo minor surgery in Finland this week for an injury he picked up at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Troost-Ekong sustained the injury during Nigeria’s second group game against hosts Cote d’Ivoire.
The 30-year-old scored the winning goal for the Super Eagles from the spot in the encounter.
The centre-back missed the Super Eagles’ following game against the Djurtus of Guinea-Bissau.
Troost-Ekong went on to play every minute of the Super Eagles remaining games in the competition.
The former Watford player scored three goals for the three-time African champions at the AFCON 2023 finals.
He was duly named Player of the Tournament.
Troost-Ekong is expected to return to play for Greek side PAOK towards the end of the season.
