Transfer: Ratcliffe identifies Ex-Chelsea star as potential Casemiro replacement at Man Utd

Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is reportedly lining up a surprise move for former Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley as a potential replacement for Casemiro.

Casemiro, who is Man United’s highest earner at £350,000 a week, has already attracted interest from the Saudi Pro League.

The Brazilian and Christian Eriksen have already been linked with a move away from Old Trafford at the end of the season.

Man United are keen to reduce their wage bill to ease Financial Fair Play restrictions, which manager Erik ten Hag claims prevented the Red Devils from signing a striker in January.

However, according to The Sun, Ratcliffe has identified Barkley as a potential signing to bolster Man United’s midfield.

The report added that both Ratcliffe and INEOS director of sport Sir Dave Brailsford are huge admirers of Barkley, who currently plays for Luton Town, from their time together at Ligue 1 club Nice.

Barkley spent last season at Nice before joining Luton Town on a free transfer last August.

The Englishman has been one of the Premier League’s standout midfielders and will play a crucial role in Luton’s bid to avoid relegation this season.
