1 Dies, 20 Rescued As Boat Capsizes In Lagos

One person died and 20 others were rescued in a boat accident that occurred around Kirikiri Imore area Apapa, Lagos State, on Thursday night.

It was gathered that the accident happened due to a fishing net which affected its engine, leading the capsizing of the Ogun State-bound boat


The yet-to-be identified passenger died on the way to the hospital where rescuers rushed him to.

Twenty other occupants of the boat were rescued by local divers.


Tribune Online gathered that the boat took off from Apapa and was on the way to Agbara in Ogun State when the accident happened.


Ibrahim Farinloye, the south west spokesperson of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), confirmed the incident to the Tribune Online.


Farinloye also added that the agency received the report of the capsized boat around 7.00 p.m. on Thursday
