Transfer: Ancelotti speaks on asking Real Madrid to re-sign Benzema

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has insisted he never asked the club to bring back Karim Benzema.

Benzema left the LaLiga giants after 14 years last summer as a free agent and joined Saudi Pro League champions Al Ittihad.

However, the 36-year-old striker is unsettled in the Middle East and wants to return to Europe.

When asked about reports claiming he asked Madrid president Florentino Perez to re-sign Benzema, only for the club supremo to turn it down, Ancelotti said in his Friday news conference: “It’s a lie. We have not spoken about this with the club.”

Benzema is also being linked with Premier League clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United.
