Mechanic Arrested by Lagos Police For Stealing Customer's Car

Policemen have arrested a 54-year-old mechanic, Abisodun Ilori.

He was arrested for car theft in the Isheri-Oshun area of Lagos State.

Ilori’s arrest followed the complaints by a resident in the area about his missing Nissan Xterra.

It was gathered that the owner of the vehicle had gone to church on Sunday when Ilori visited his house, collected the keys to the vehicle from his daughter and drove it away to an unknown destination.

A police source told our correspondent on Monday that, “The DPO immediately detailed surveillance and anti-car theft team to the scene.

“The suspect was later arrested through intelligence gathering and he led the officers to 47-year-old Charles Nnoli who received the vehicle from him.”

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, while confirming the incident, said the receiver was also arrested and the vehicle was recovered.

He added that an investigation was ongoing into the incident.
