Mourinho ‘reaches verbal agreement’ for next job after Roma sack

Jose Mourinho has reached a verbal agreement to become the new manager of Al-Shabab, according to Asharq Al-Awsat.

The 64-year-old is without a job after he was sacked by Roma earlier this week.

Mourinho left the Serie A side sitting in ninth place on the table.

However, during his time at Roma, Mourinho spoke about the prospect of working in the Saudi Pro League.

This came after he claimed he rejected the “biggest and craziest offer a coach has ever received” to remain in Italy.

The offer in question would have reportedly seen him earn £500,000-a-week to take charge of Al-Hilal, who are now managed by Jorge Jesus.

However, Mourinho is in line to take over at Al-Shabab, having held a Zoom meeting with the club’s sporting director Domenico Tite on Thursday.

It is believed that an agreement was reached for him to become the club’s new manager. The report added that Mourinho is ‘expected to arrive’ in Saudi Arabia in the coming days if the deal is finalized.
