Transfer: Darren Bent speaks on ex-Liverpool striker joining Chelsea

Former Tottenham Hotspur star, Darren Bent believes former Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino will not join the Reds’ Premier League rivals Chelsea in the ongoing January transfer window.

Firmino has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, with Chelsea looking to bolster their striking options.

According to The Telegraph, the Blues are also eyeing a deal for former Real Madrid captain Karim Benzema on a short-term basis.

Speaking on the development, Bent suggested that a return to the Premier League for Firmino is unlikely for a number of reasons.

He told talkSPORT: “Chelsea Liverpool, that history there, they don’t like each other at all.

“Would he go? I can’t see Firmino going there, I just can’t.”
