Leckie’s early football journey began with the Brimbank Stallions and later the Bulleen Lions, both in Victoria’s State League Division 1.

Career

Leckie made his A-League debut on September 18, 2009, for Adelaide United, coming on as a substitute in the 75th minute against Melbourne Victory.

He quickly made an impact, scoring the winning goal in his first AFC Champions League match against Pohang Steelers on February 24, 2010. Leckie’s impressive performances earned him recognition as one of Australia’s best young players.

In 2011, Leckie moved to Germany, signing with Borussia Mönchengladbach. He scored his first goal for the club in a friendly match against Aberdeen, netting a double in a 5-2 victory.

Throughout his career in Germany, Leckie had loan spells at FSV Frankfurt before permanently moving to the club in 2013. After his stint with FSV Frankfurt, he joined FC Ingolstadt 04 in 2014.
