LASU unveils new multipurpose smart ID Card for staff and students

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, on Thursday, 28th December 2023, unveiled the new multipurpose Smart ID card for staff and students of the Lagos State University. The Smart ID Card is designed to replace the mono-functional ID cards currently being used by staff and students.

To introduce the card to the University Community, the Vice Chancellor led other members of the university management team to demonstrate one of the functionalities of the card as an Attendance Management System for large students' classes, shortly before the commencement of the Senate meeting on Thursday.

To facilitate the demonstration, an Attendance Management Device was already installed at the Senate's Secretariat, which the VC, the DVC, Administration, Prof. Adenike Boyo, DVC Academics, Prof. Folusho Omobitan and the Registrar, Mr. Emmanuel FANU used to clock into the chambers.

Members of Senate commended the VC for making the vision of the Smart Card a reality and gave kudos to the ICT for the development. To use the card, a user will be required to tap the ID card on the installed device.
