EPL: Huge asset – Cole warns Arsenal over signing Aston Villa star

Former Chelsea star, Joe Cole has warned Arsenal that they need to pay more than £100 million to sign Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz.

Cole feels Luiz is currently outperforming Chelsea’s big-money signing Moises Caicedo.

Luiz is one of Arsenal’s top midfield targets ahead of the January transfer window.

However, it is understood that Mikel Arteta’s side would need to sell players to fund a move for the Brazilian midfielder.

Luiz’s current contract with Aston Villa will expire in 2026.

However, Cole believes Arsenal would need to make another big-money move to convince Aston Villa to sell one of their key players next year.

“If you are looking at the price tag around them [Declan Rice, Enzo Fernandes and Moises Caicedo], it has got to be in the ballpark,” Cole told TNT Sports.

“He has been performing in the same league as them, performing better than Caicedo, arguably. Rice has been outstanding as well, as he has been.

“But he is in and around them numbers and he is a huge asset for the club.”
