EPL: Rio Ferdinand names team to finish above Liverpool, challenge Man City

Former Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand, has tipped Arsenal to challenge Manchester City for the Premier League title this season.

Ferdinand was speaking on TNT Sports after the Gunners claimed a 1-0 win at Brentford.

The result saw Mikel Arteta’s men go top of the table after 13 points, following a 1-1 draw between Manchester City and Liverpool in the early kick-off.

According to Ferdinand, Arsenal’s centre-back partnership of William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes, give them an edge over the Reds in the title race.

Arsenal have the best defence in the Premier League so far this season, conceding just 10 goals in 13 games.

“The two centre-backs, they’ll be the reason why I would put them ahead of Liverpool in the title race to challenge someone like Manchester City.

“Because you can trust those two implicitly at the moment,” Ferdinand said.
