During his time at Valley Forge, he proved himself to be an outstanding player, recording an impressive 39.5 sacks and earning first-team NJCAA All-America and Seaboard Conference Defensive Player of the Year honors during his sophomore year.

Peterson later continued his football career at Michigan State, where he played as a linebacker. He garnered attention as an All-American selection by Football News and the Sporting News after recording 15 sacks during his senior year.

In just 23 games at Michigan State, Peterson amassed 140 tackles and 25 sacks.

Peterson’s professional career kicked off when the San Francisco 49ers selected him in the first round of the 2000 NFL Draft.

As a rookie, he quickly established himself as a formidable player, starting seven of 13 games and recording 47 tackles, four sacks, and two interceptions.

Peterson’s outstanding performances led to his first Pro Bowl selection in 2002 after posting 94 tackles. During his six seasons with the 49ers, he accumulated 394 tackles, 21.5 sacks, and five interceptions in 79 games, earning two Pro Bowl nods.

In 2006, Peterson signed with the Seattle Seahawks, bringing his exceptional skills to the team. In his first season with the Seahawks, he earned a Pro Bowl selection again, showcasing his versatility on the field with 89 tackles and a career-high 10 sacks.

Peterson continued to impress in his second season, earning another Pro Bowl selection with 74 tackles and 9.5 sacks.

Throughout his three seasons with the Seahawks, he recorded 249 tackles, 24.5 sacks, and three interceptions in 48 games, solidifying his reputation as an elite linebacker.

The final leg of Peterson’s career came with the Detroit Lions, where he was traded by the Seahawks in 2009. Despite facing some challenges, Peterson continued to impact the field, contributing 76 tackles, 4.5 sacks, and one interception in his first season with the Lions. After a successful tenure, the team eventually released him in 2011.
