Drunk Man Shoots His Friend Over Disagreement In Adamawa State

A 45-year-old man, Wawe Nokomari, has been arrested by the Adamawa State Police Command for allegedly shooting his friend, Ham Musa, during a disagreement.

The incident happened in Jabi community, Shelleng Local Government Area of the state on November 7, 2023.

Spokesman of the command, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, who confirmed the incident in a statement on Monday, November 13, said the victim is alive and currently receiving treatment.

According to the PPRO, Wawe, who is a father of 8, had consumed a popular locally brewed beer known as “burukutu"  as well as sweeti and mafia, before he shot his friend while working in rice farm.

Misunderstanding was said to have ensued between the two men, who were both drunk, resulting in the shooting.

The spokesperson said Wawe opened fire on Ham with a gun which he had borrowed from a vigilante.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Afolabi Babatola had ordered the Criminal Investigation Department to investigate the matter.

SP Nguroje said that the CP had ordered the arrest of the vigilante who had borrowed his gun to the suspect.

He assured that the command will ensure the prosecution of the accused upon completion of investigation.

“The suspect has confessed to the crime and expressed remorse for his actions. He also pledged to abstain from drinking alcohol in the future,” Nguroje added.
