EPL: Arteta, Ten Hag snubbed as Carragher names best three managers

Liverpool legend, Jamie Carragher, has included Aston Villa’s Unai Emery among his top three Premier League managers.

Carragher, speaking on Sky Sports, claimed only Pep Guardiola (Manchester City) and Jurgen Klopp (Liverpool) are ahead of Emery.

On Sunday, Villa beat Fulham 3-1 to extend their winning run at home to 13 matches.

They are now in fifth place, only three points behind leaders City after 13 fixtures.

Carragher said: “You can make an argument that Unai Emery is the third best manager in this Premier League,” the former Liverpool defender said.

“You’ve probably got Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola, they are Champions League winners.

“But when you look at the body of work of Unai Emery, not just at Aston Villa, he’s continually winning Europa Leagues.

“Mikel Arteta and even Mauricio Pochettino haven’t got that CV in terms of winning trophies.”
